Solutions for Urban Regeneration
Regeneration of our urban streets and public
spaces is back on the agenda, both at local and national
government levels. Pressures for higher density housing
and an improved quality of urban life – or “Liveability” – have
resulted in a range of major initiatives. In particular,
the government’s report ‘Living Places – Cleaner,
Safer, Greener’ sets out policy on public space.
In addition, the government backed Commission for Architecture
and the Built Environment’s ‘CABE Space’ initiative
is specifically concerned with improving quality in public
spaces.
