The British Government has identified four priority areas for sustainable development:

  • Sustainable Consumption and Production
  • Climate Change and Energy
  • Natural Resource Protection and Environmental Enhancement
  • Sustainable Communities

Precast concrete paving products from Interpave manufacturers meet all these demands and other sustainability requirements.

For example, the BRE Green Guide to Specification provides independent endorsement of the low environmentalimpact of precast concrete paving, particularly in comparisonwith imported materials. All the block and flag paving for pedestrian and lightly trafficked areas gained the highest A+ or A ratings.

But it's also worth remembering that precast concrete paving products from Interpave members are manufactured locally on modern, automated manufacturing plant. Interpave manufacturers form an essential part of the local economy – generating sustainable employment – and community. Localisation also minimises transportation impacts of both manufacturing materials and supplied products, with no trans-world shipping, and provides effective national coverage.
